In 1977, the
Chairman of the Board, Myron P. Shevell, bought
New England Motor Freight, a troubled Northeast
regional less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier, from
Farmland Dairies. Under his leadership, the
company has grown from 55 units and five terminals
to more than 10,000 pieces of equipment and 40
terminals throughout the Northeast and Midwest and
is now the region's fastest-growing family-owned
LTL carrier. NEMF also boasts terminals in
Florida, Puerto Rico and Canada and reaches 80
percent of the U.S. population through service
partnerships.
Mr. Shevell
received an Associate's Degree from George
Washington University and a Bachelor's Degree from
New York University. He also attended the Academy
of Advanced Traffic.
Mr. Shevell was
named 1999 Master Entrepreneur in the Ernst &

who has maintained management excellence over a
sustained period of time. It is one of the most
prestigious awards that can be given to an
independent business owner in the United States.
